Joshua Tree National Park covers more than 1,238 square miles. Park elevations range from about 934 feet at Pinto Falls to 5,813 feet at Quail Mountain.
This California desert country contains striking granite rock formations and beautiful mountain ranges which rise from the flat valley floor at about 1,800 feet above sea level to elevations above 5,000 feet. The park is know for its collection of Joshua Trees, cactuses, ocotillos, smoke trees, palo verde trees, pinion pines and Mojave yuccas. The largest animal in the park is the desert bighorn sheep.
